Michelangelo Perghem Gelmi Trust

The Trust was donated to the MART by Michelangelo Perghem Gelmi’s children in February 1995 and involves his architectural and town-planning activity.
It mostly includes drawings (technical drawings on paper vellum/blueprint, sketches and outlines on paper and card, heliographic copies and radex) and other documents enclosed to the plans (photographs, charts, typed reports, notes, etc…).
When Michelangelo Perghem Gelmi definitively settled in Trento in 1956 after living in Turin (1945-1947) and in San Juan in Argentina (1948-1956), he mostly worked in Trentino-Alto Adige (Trento, Levico, Cles, Malè, Merano etc.), planning works commissioned by both private customers and public bodies.
In the Trust there are two projects from the Argentinean period; among the works carried out outside Trentino Alto-Adige there is the Alpine building with restaurant planned in Nevegal (Belluno).
Among the plastic models of the Trust, one refers to the project called “Trento Tomorrow”, winner of the National Competition for the former Santa Chiara hospital area in Trento, linked to the National Town-planning Congress held in Trento in 1967, and another one refers to the first plan for the church in Pavillo (then realised in a different way).
The main works included in the Trust are the Levico Spas, the Merano Spas, the ONAIRC school in Trento, the plan for Trento Tomorrow, the ECA public housing in Trento, the kindergarten in the Piedicastello neighbourhood in Trento, and the mountain terraced houses in Monte Bondone.
