The realism of Perghem Gelmi’s images could make one think that he were concentrating only on the aesthetic and formal aspects of the subjects and situations he is portraying, disregarding the inner connections and values embedded in the reality he is examining. However, if you look closer, you can detect a myriad of interconnecting meanings and messages. Nothing is left to chance in his works and every element has a specific collocation within his composition. In fact, it is the composition itself that, through the facial expressions of the various figures, aptly portrayed, conveys a dedicated search for truth beyond enigmatic appearances.
